Pissed beyond belief

That's the issue around here, everyone tells you to do something (get rid of them, drop that beast, etc.) but rarely are the consequences mentioned.
There are always consequences to not preparing properly and doing the job hastily.

I was not going to say anything but since you raised the topic, what kind of results can be expected by doing the job in the dark with a flashlight for light? Was a heat gun used to soften the adhesive as is always recommended? I did not see any mention of a heat gun.

You are getting free advice and if you are going to do the job and you are not a professional mechanic then you need to do some planning before you start the work and have the correct tools available.

Dude Trout I hope everything you said was not directed at me seeing as I didn't even " raise the topic". If it was, then before you bash what I did and quote something that you thought was me, you should look at who said it. If you would have read, not only is the night the only time I have to work on my car but I did do the job properly and used a large spot light, not a flash light. I used a heat gun also. Sometimes **** happens.

--Superstang, sorry to hear about your issue to but it sucks alot does it, really horrible feeling, especially if you take car of your car so well and it is in such good condition, you know?

Oh man i felt so terrible...im just gonna wait to get the bullit scoop deletes and cobra rockers and then get my door painted...now i have a reason.....trying and think of something positive that will come out of your mistake!...i used double sided tape from partsource and ut mine bakc on, there a bit crooked, but no one has noticed yet, not even the body shop i took it to...the only reason my one door peeled is because it has been painted before i think!

Not directed towards you I just used the work you performed as a counterpoint example to the point that was made in what I quoted.

Too many people have been saying lately that StangNet members advise people to do work, then people try to do the work, then they f'k up their car, and then they come back here and try to blame the people that were giving them free advice.

A good example of what I am talking about is this thread: http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=708393

Also, IF you used a heat gun as you say then why did you have a problem? My theory was that as you worked on the first side the other side COOLED as the night wore on and when you went to do the other side it was cool enough to cause your problems. Are you sure you used a heat gun?

Well glad to hear it wasn't directed at me but those "you's" seemed like it. And Never once did I come here to say someone else's information caused my car to get messed up. I researched, did it myself and I payed the consequence. And Yes sir I am 100% positive I used a heat gun. Heat gun = metal thing that looks like a gun that blows out heat. Did I heat it up until it just melted off, no. But I heated it up a good amount enough to slowly peel it off, and in doing so some of the paint stayed with the adhesive. I dont even see how I could have gotten that adhesive off without heating it up other than maybe prying it off with a crowbar. And no your theory was not how I did it. I heated one side, pulled it off, heated the other, pulled it off.

Yes I did use the fishing line, with a heat gun. I did it about for about 2 inches in and then began just slowly pulling it with my hand. I searched alot on this topic. lol. I found the thread where the guy said fishing line and even posted in there. I did pull the one side slightly faster than the other but honestly even if i took like 2 hours on it I still think it would have taken the paint off. I did take my time. I duno maybe my door had been repainted before too. **** it was titled in Canada it could have submerged in water for all I know and wouldn't necessarily show up on the carfax.

man, ive been through as ive already said....and im gonan suggest that the side that peeled might have been repainted before. i no that mine has, and i think thats why it peeled!

Although, this is just my excuse to get bullit side scoop deletes and cobra rockers hahaha

Damn. 3M Stripe and Woodgrain Remover wood have made those things slide right off. Or you can do the floss and then clean method, but the 3M product work really really well.

Sucks.

You were supposed to fishing line the entire length of the strip :(
