Places to Drive Fast?

where *IS* the nearest track anyway? California?

Open track events occur at the following local or semi local raceways.

Bremerton Motorsports Park (Bremerton)
Spokane Speedway??? (Spokane)
There is a short roadcourse in Vancouver BC (I forget the name)
Pacific Raceways (Kent/Auburn)
Portland International Raceway (Portland)

With the proper safety equip you could also run SOLO 1 (sort of a cross between open track and autocross, timed event) and they have been known to run those at Monroe using the oval and the infield.

In my opinion top end speed is not nearly as fun as knowing how fast you can get to and still safely slow down for turn 1 at Pacific Raceway.

Seriously... take it to the track, an open track event is way less expensive than a ticket for going over 100, and truthfully it is best to learn some car control as a novice at an OT event before pushing the top end limits of your car.

In Bellevue you're about 30 minutes or less from Pacfic Raceways and that "relatively short" road course gets my car up to 130mph and runs it out of gas in an hour.
Money is no reason not to go if you want to speed. About $100 or so to Open Track with a club. The possible brake job, fuel, and oil change costs more and all of it is less than a ticket.

Evil, what are you driving out there? When I am feeling up to I have seen 138 thru T1 before I start to slow down, I won't get any faster until I can deal better with pucker factor thru T9. Typically I am happier at about 125 Thru T1.

Modded black 94 GT.
You might recognize the Borbet split spoke wheels and the rear roof line spoiler if you've seen me there. There's a pic on the Corral in my gallery.

I haven't been out there for a while though. My new motor may get me even faster, it definately has more power than the near stocker I would abuse out there.
130 was what I remember seeing heading into T1 when I forced myself to glance down out of couriosity as I began my turn in toward T1. I hardly ever check speed. Usually only water temps. I may have gained more speed than that but I was busy looking to drop my wheel of in the pot hole patch.
I hit it full throttle as soon as I round T8? and start to pass the area to exit to the pits and don't let up until the braking zone of T2.
I'm a little confused on the turn names with the new configuration. If the crappy blind corner to the right on the side of the drag paddocks grand stands is still T9 I was hitting that one around 90mph based on my gear shift points. Jon A took a pretty cool pic of me from the front coming through there in the rain with my wipers up.

Evil, I know the car now. I feel silly that I have not introduced myselft before, my apologies. I'm sure you have seen the 99 out there before, stock looking on the outside, polished cobra r's for track wheels. Typically next to a silver Z06 at an alfa day.
