Plastic intake lawsuit about to end..

I dont understand ... They only went up to 2001 but 02,03, and 04 have that crappy plastic intake. Whats the deal how come those other years are not covered?

Its because every 04 should have the aluminum crossover already. The front of your intake already has the newly designed piece that wont crack where the temp sensor and thermostat are. On the rest, the crossover is plastic and a made-in part of the intake...

I'm going to check mine 2nite, then. I don't think mine looks like that.

I'll say again:
"So we '04 owners are screwed on this one, right?"

02+ owners are not "screwed", you got the PI heads, cams and Intake with the updated aluminum crossover (260hp!). It' the 96-01 owners that have been screwed and have to change the lower intake out or eventually be faced with a leaking intake and if far from home - being stuck out there. Many owners with all plastic intakes have had in some cases paid lot of money to get fixed with Ford just offering to extend the coverage on the warranty on some models. It took a court case to force Ford into a settlement, which (IMO) Ford should have covered no matter the mileage/age since it was either a design defect or manufacturing one.

Here's a pic of mine post PI intake with the alum. crossover install. Kind of hard to see if your not really looking. If you look to the immediate left and right of the altenator you should be able to the the aluminum crossover.

For those that haven't gotten their notice in the mail yet:
http://www.fordmanifoldsettlement.com/index.html

Ford is about to lose a major class action lawsuit, which to us means we can:
A) Get a brand new intake with aluminum crossover installed by a dealer for free
B) Be reimbursed (Up to $735 I think) for having it replaced.

Dammit, its only covering 98-01's. What about the 96 and 97 Stangs that have the plastic intake?

I guess you are right but still its not a full aluminum intake cause part of it is still plastic ... which if you think about it its kind of stupid but I guess we are always on the look out for a freebe...hehehehehe

Yeah that is my burning question. If I get this thing swapped, roll into a dealership with it, they going to fork over 750 bucks since I don't "have a receipt for the work?" What if someone paid 1k to a shop to have it replaced with labor and everything, I didn't see a limit on it? I am assuming the 750 is a base payout if you have no receipt kinda like returning something without a receipt and you get the "lowest selling price of that product." I might have to go ahead and get a cheap intake for 200 bucks, swap it in. Get my 750, sell the lower intake for 200 bucks and have the additional cash toward a KB 1.7l kit since that comes with the lower right?

if you haven't had yours break, go buy a new intake ($200) and swap it yourself. then tell ford the old one broke. you'll still net $535.

Mine never did break. But I did do the PI swap. Im gonna wait till this thing becomes official and just take it down to Ford and see if I can get some money for my trouble :D

Ok, I think we need to have a recap here by someone that knows whats going on.. like years affected, what the problem is, why other years arent covered, when we can expect something to happen, yadda yadda yadda... I think that would be the best thing here to cover everyones questions....

I deffinetly would love an extra 735 for a P-51 ;)

Thanks!
