hey everyone i just picked up my 1971 Mach One Mustang about 5 days ago for 3,300  and was wondering if anyone could give me some helpful advice about it. I am very new to the classic car world and i just hope i came to the right place for some information. The car rite now is in great running condtion, here are a few specifications:

351 Cleveland
351-Cleveland 2V heads
Performer Intake
Holley 750 cfm carburator
Doug Thorley headers
Dual exaust with h-pipe
2 chamber flowmasters
Accel coil + elect. dist.
Iskendarien camshaft
514 lift
224 duration at 50 degrees
282 advertised duration
108 degree lobe seperation
FMX Transmission with shift kit
Hurst contender converter 2400-2800 stall
3:89 posi trac rear end
10:1 compression
traction bars

now i was just wondering about how much HP roughly i am putting out (comes bone stock with 285), what kind of 1/4 mile times i might be getting, what cars i should not be afraid of at all and which ones should i steer clear from, and most of all, what would be the next cheapest step to cut my time down. Also what some of these modifications are that I dont know....Any of these questions answered would be exremely helpful so i just hope somone has any information on these cars or atleast more than I do thanks alot guys n gals...AMERICAN MUSCLE :flag:

Not sure on HP but that car with that setup should take off like a bat out of hell. I have a 73' mach 1 im rebuilding, its a good learning experince because it needs a NEW everything from engine to brakes to fuel system to floor pants..... I decided to go with the 4bbl Quench head on my rebuild. I had 2bbl heads but never drove it with them, I hear they have a ton of torque. I love the look of the 71-73 mach 1's with the front and rear spoilers and mag 500's with the black out hood and hood pins. It sounds like someone allready build that car up real nice. My car was free but I allready have about 3k into it and it still needs an engine rebuild, lower gears in the rear, new mag 500's, seat covers, exhaust, radiator.... im hoping the tranny is still good its a FMX but who knows. I'd say your car should run low 13's? Just a guess.

That Combo should kick Arse. As far as horspower I would speculate around 360 and a torque output of at least 400ftlbs. That's a guess but based on what I know about my set up on my 351w which is pretty simular to yours it should be in the ballpark. Mines pretty quick but I've never tested it at the track. Maybe somone on the forums got one of those desktop dynos and can nail it down for you.

Welcome to the big body mustang family.

From what you describe, you got a mean setup there.
I cant really explain to you some of the questions since I am also learning and dont want to mislead you with faulty info. As for your questions on lift, duration and lobe seperation, they are camshaft related.

Oh, in what condition is the body and interior? For 3,300 seems like a wicked deal.

thanks

hey guys thanks alot for all the help and so damn fast!...condition wise, the interior was great minus a few 20$ parts, the fastback part of the headliner, and the locks. new carpet and new matching seats it looks pretty clean inside for the most part. the body is straight besides some very very surface rust that i am going to take care of as soon as spring break comes and i get enough time do handle it. again thanks for all the help and keep it commin still curious about it thanks

supercharger? lol 4v heads, u got a damn beast buddy...i dont think i would add much more and keep it streetable personally...i dont know how many gears that tranny's got or what rear diff gears u got, but maybe in a 1/4 u want to go a bit faster so up the gears...w/e if i had that car i would prolly not make many changes as that is an awsome machine....

ps. wana trade? :D lol
