2. Reliable power
3. Blown
4. 5 grand budget (If possible)
5. I will be doing all the work myself and this will be my 1st project car ive ever done.
6. I plan on using the stock T5 at 1st till she blows and then upgrade later.

Ive been using this board for a while now and Im sure you guys will give me good advice for my 1st project stang

you would be able to get a s/c trim supercharger. get a 302 from a junkyard strip it put is some forged internals nice cam afr 165 or 185 cc heads and a nice intake. and that would be tight but you are look at about 500 hp with that set-up and 10lbs of boost with that s/c trim kit.

where in nc are you? id go with some thumper heads, custom ed curtis and anderson cam, cobra intake and blower with all the fuel and ignition goodies that you will need. get some subframe connectors, springs, control arms, and you should be all set.

i am in monroe,NC near charlotte. Yeah i figured 5k would be tough. So if I get a JY 302 from what another mustang or do i have other choices. Is there a better year for a 302 than another. So if i put all the bottom end goodies I should be good. What about a JY turbo setup or should i just stick to the good ole SC setup

keep the ideas a comin

oh and i guess i have to make my budget a bit bigger huh :bang:

you can get a good running blown 5.0 for under 5k. its not gonna be awesome top of the line parts but you can do it. youll have ot set aside enough for the blower. but a set of thumper heads and cobra intake will be about a grand, and suspension stuff will be about 500 depending on what you get. than the rest goes to the blower. the stuff that adds up isnt the parts you put on, its the gaskets and little stuff you dont think of until youre installing the parts that add up

I would go with a 393 stroker, you would be king of the street on N/A, then I dont even know what would happen when you put boost to it. 700-800rwhp.

Buy a good lower mileage Explorer engine for ~$600-700 from a junk yard. Pull the pistons from your 5.0 and clean them up and put them in the Explorer motor with fresh rings and a quick bottle brush hone. Much better heads and intake and it's easy to upgrade later.

Sounds to me like you should find a good deal on a FMS GT40x long block with an ecam. If you shop around you should be able to have a new motor, an A trim vortech and some other happy junk too- all for 5k. If this is your first go around with this stuff this should be right up your alley. JY motor and a turbo may be a bit much for a first time project. My suggestion will give you good power, both street and strip, as well as longevity and reliability. Plus, you could smog it.
