I just changed a mechanical fuel pump on my friend's 79' Bronco with a 351 Modified in it, now its flooding itself, gas is dripping out from the gasket between the top half and the bowl area, EXACT symptom as if a float was stuck or something..(pump wasnt bad just leaking oil and the kid had already bought it)... the carb was dry with the old pump sooooo I need all u guys helps please.....could it be a wrong pump or something?, it looked the exact same, please help me out with some ideas Thanks :SNSign:

Most likely the float is stuck in the open position. Or at least the float needle is stuck open or has dirt under it. My 77 F150 did this once in a while. I am assuming a 351M with a Motorcraft 2150 two barrel carb.

A gentle wrap on the carb bowl might fix it, or just change the float, needle and seat.

Thats what I was thinking, i tried giving it a few "love taps" on the bowl with the handle of a screwdriver, still the same......and yeah its the stock Motorcraft 2barrel carb.....but why would it start this once I put in the new pump?

rd has the right idea - dirt stuck between the float valve & seat. Anytime you open a fitting, you open up the possiblity of getting some dirt inside the lines unless you are extremely careful.
