Can someone tell me what this is and is it suppose to be loose I can pick it up where the bolt is and move both sides up and down is this something that needs to be tight or does it have bushing in it that may be worn or is it normally supposed to move up and down it really just don’t seem like it’s doing any thing right now it’s behind the drive shaft next to the rear end

It’s a pinion damper-helps with low speed vibrations-the bolts have probably just backed out-have you tried to tighten them up?

No I havnt done anything with it I still have it on the lift but I just noticed it today I was looking and noticed I could move it up and down but I didn’t know if it’s supposed to be loose or tight I will try to tighten it up tomorrow to see do they go bad or have to replace anything on them so it should fit snug and not move up and down right is there any bushing in it that need to be replaced
