Please help me! clutch quadrent install.. About to go crazy!!!

Yesterday shifting to second, my cable snapped on me.... soo now im installing an adjustible cable and quadrent..... I didnt have to take the seat out.. i have small hands and i can fit right..... i pulled the 2 cotter pins out and pulled the quadrent off...... now for the mother fizuckin ****** part of the job... that small plastic piece that has to be pulled off! I went to pry it, but there is simply no room to pull it off the pin.. there is a medal plate looking thing about a millimeter past the pin... pushing the pedal up and down will not make a difference, because that plate is still there...... now... if i pulled the pedal up,m there is a medal piece that stops the pedal from going any further up, if anyone knows what im talking about... IF that wasnt there, then the pedal would come higher up which would make the pin go past the plate and it will slide right off... but i dont know if theres a way to do that.....

either wayt, please help me out.... 9 out of 10 knuckles are busted and bleeding and im NOT GETTING ANYWHERE but fed up!! one of them feelings where you wanna throw a foot through your door!!! ahhh please help..

just break the muther ucker. i've never had to resort to breaking it, but heard of many peopl who have, so if you are having that much trouble go ahead. not like you need it again. big extension or really long heavy duty screw driver through the firewall and a tap of the hammer and break her off. i dunno, i've done a few though and never had to, always end up coming out after a little massaging, and i'm a really tall guy and never had to take the seat out yet either.

haha, i know exactly what you are complaining about. i was workin on that thing for probably an hour. ended up getting so pissed that i just put a pry bar on it and braced it against the steering column and put everything i had behind it....it came off. just get pissed and put some ass behind it....actually i had to use the pry bar to bend that metal plate you are talkin about. but just get nasty with it

I feel your pain man. I had a heck of a time getting that POS off. I ended up using my Dremel tool with a small cutting wheel and just cut the POS plastic piece off. Before doing this I had an hour or so into trying to pry it off and finally gave up. If it wont pry off then cut it off but be very carefull not to hurt the cruise sensor above the gas pedal. I broke mine and am still kicking myself for it. :bang:

I hate that peice of junk adjuster thingy. Just remembering it makes my blood boil. What kind of plastic is that, they should make the whole car out of it, it's strong as hell. Used a air chisel on it, it was barly able to chip it, I mean this Snap On air chizzel will bust through a frame on a dually, but couldn't even scare that peice of the quadrant. Your going to have to pry on it, that's the only way, maby cut it off, but prying it works best. When my co-worker got it out I must have spend a minute or two throwing it around trying to kick it's a$$, it must have looked insane, I went straight Cornhoolio on that thing and it bounced back up and busted me in the eye! I should keep that thing in the glove box as a weapon.

Well after a few hours and busted up knuckles, i gave up for the day because i had to go to work.. I am just reading this thread now.... ive tried a big screwdriver to pry, but it did jack crap!!.. ill try a prybar, but that area is TIIIIIGHHHHHT. keep in mind that i can only work on it 5-10 min at the most.. I get VERY dizzy and light headed from being upside down the whole time and have to take small breaks! lol

You may as well take out your seat. It takes all of 10 minutes to unbolt, and you will have a bunch more space, although the front bolts will still dig into your back. You will also need to be on your back to install the new quadrant, hook up the cable, and install the pins.
