A buddy of mine has 94 5-speed GT and it is not in the best conditions. It has a lot of details he needs to fix starting with a poppin noise in the differential. I've been trying to talk him into selling it and letting me switch out the trannys. It'll cost me $500 bucks for the swap and he already got the King Cobra clutch in there so don't have to worry about that. He said that if he were to sell the car he would let me but he's not planning on selling anytime soon. So my question is, should I go ahead and buy the 3200 stall from PI, which is $800 and a custom JMS chip for shift points so I can get the most out of my car right now. But what if he decides to sell it in a couple of months? Should I still make my car into a manual or just stick to the set-up I'll have? I was also wondering, how much is an Art Carr tranny?

PS, the PI Stallion 3200 comes to about $750, are there any other options out there??

Well you can't go on what your buddy is going to or not do. Unless he gives you a firm committment I would do what you want the most. All I can say is I wish I had an auto sometimes. IMO they are much more consistent on the 1/4.

thanx man, that's what i think as well, but a stick is so much more fun to drive on the street.

Ive been debating this myself. Beef up my auto or get the t-5 conversion. I think I am going to end up keeping it auto since I plan on s/c someday and like 94sc50 said it makes for more consistant 1/4 times. Plus I got a sport bike too so I get the urge to shift I just jump on that thing.

They are fun, but they can also be a pain in the city or heavy traffic, especially if you are on the go alot. It is tricky shifting with a Big Mac in your hand ...
