OK, last time I posted about gas mileage and asked a question, all I got was 15 people telling me they were getting anywhere from 22 to 35 MPG with their 4.6. That's fascinating, but I need to know how. I got 13.7 on my last two fillups, and the car seems to running great. Can anyone share some insight on how a GT could have gas mileage that low but still run well (driver's observation only, of course). What can I do to bring it back toward 20 mpg? Thanks.

it all depends on where you live. some states use 10% ethanol and then take it a step further and oxygenate the gas all resulting in crappy mileage but a cleaner burn. In NY they do both and I get 16-18mpg highway. when I go to PA and fill up there im getting 27+mpg.

The largest variant in mileage is the driving conditions. My car gets great mileage ~ 24mpg when I'm only on the highway, but once in traffic, I drop to 18. In Atlanta, there's only 2 types of driving, in traffic and in bad traffic, so I don't expect mine to be very high. I would check the little things, air filter, run some fuel injector cleaner, maybe swap the fuel filter. Hope you get it worked out.

Thanks for the replies. I used to make sure about the ethanol.....it depends on what gas station you go to, but lately I have been in a hurry, not worrying about it. Maybe that will help....

This weekend I'm going to do a tune-up and oil change, maybe along with plugs and oil I will change the fuel filter. Is there any fuel filter that anyone here prefers?

I changed mine w/ motorcraft, it was inexpensive and in stock. I don't even think about wix, scary. I haven't done that much research or heard too many people talk about differnt filters, maybe this thread will bring useful information.
