My 1993 2.3L LX has been experiencing a driveability problem lately. When the engine is cold, it has a bad part-throttle sputter (more accurately it runs like absolute crap and wont accelerate, and backfires). If I floor it, it clears out and runs good. Once the engine is warm there are no problems at all. I already checked the EGR valve operation and also cleaned it out. Any help is really appreciated! Thanks!

Double check that the check engine light does work for one are go ahead and run a code check anyways. My car acts weird sometimes and the check engine light never stays on long enough to run a code check on it. Also have you done a full tune-up on the car recently? The only thing I can really think of is that cold start solenoid that adds more fuel on cold starts but I can't remember if our cars has one or not.

Yup because a MotorCraft ECT is like 23.00 bux and a off brand is 16.00 at Ford store its 43.00  See how it starts adding up if you just start throughing parts at it :) Theres a Guy on TF and in his sign is the words: "Throwing parts at it cost money and Running Test are free," or something like that :nice:
