Ok fine.

What is this about cars being siezed and for exactly what? I think homeland security needs to be investigated for this, and if they can't explain exactly a really good reason the money is spent on customs, somebody needs to go to the big house for a few years.

I read it, but don't quite buy off on it.

1. Homeland Security has rolled US Customs under it. Their job is to seize items that come into our country in an inappropriate manner or illegally. Department of Homeland Security | Preserving our Freedoms, Protecting America

2. Our tax dollars have been going to customs for years and "Grey-Market" usually refers to items that are not illegal but do not go through appropriate channels. Hence "Black-market" being illegal goods.

3. At the very least, their is a certification process and a list of "nonconforming" vehicles. Vehicle Importation and Certification Requirements


I could go on, but think people should read up on topics to truly make an informed decision. I love cars, but paying "someone" to import one may not be the best bet. I can still buy ivory in Africa and pay to have it shipped home by a legitimate company. It wont make it through customs. The same with a Grey market auto. Rare imports are cool because they are rare. If they were not, we wouldn't dig them that much. Remember the Skyline has a bunch of models, most are really not that sexy. Finally, thanks for making me read. I now know that the "weld a vin via Canada method" may be the only way I can ever "legally import" an older skyline. Guess I will stick with the fox.
