after the install of a FRPP p/p 70mm TB, OEM p/p plenum and CAI, i can hear a pretty loud 'sucking noise' when bumping the throttle. its coming from the plenum/tb. i have seen some CAI kits make this noise but it doesn't sound like it is coming from the filter. moving more air i suppose. and most of what i have read on other forums this is very common and normal. although a few posts mentioned if the noise is coming from the plenum area, its a leak. we used new gaskets and double checked all the bolts. cant find any vacuum leaks. it appears everything is in check. doesnt do it at idle, just under quick snaps of the throttle. anyone else's make quite a bit of noise?

I have the same setup as you and mine makes a pretty decent sucking noise.
I can hear it in the car when I step on it anyway... Its not abnoxious or anything, but its there.

yours seems to whine. mine just seems to make a 'whoosh' noise.

those are impressive numbers btw! were those numbers accomplished by a custom tune or was that what the car made with just the bolt ons?

i am guessing/hoping my car is somewhere between 250-260whp. mods include mac cb, pypes o/r x, diablosport with canned tune, steeda ud pulleys, CAI, FRPP ported polished 70mm tb, port matched and polished oem plenum.

Gotcha, yeah I'm not sure about the whine. Hasn't really affected anything.

Thanks! Yeah that was with the custom tune, but honestly, I don't feel I gained much from the tune watching him on the runs. Maybe I missed something though. I'm thinking of trying a mailorder tune from another popular local tuner.

250-260 sounds reasonable for that setup I think we figured 10-12 was from the longtubes....or maybe the longtubes AND UD pullies. Can't recall. This was also on a Mustang dyno.

I ALWAYS told EVERYONE that rode in my car to 'Listen for the whoosh noise, I swear I'm not crazy!', but I was the only one that could ever hear it. Im glad someone else has noticed this hahaha.

You usually notice the sound more on 4 bangers. I guess it is due to the fact that our cars make a louder rumble so we don't hear it as much?

Whooshing sounds are fun. A new camaro was really interested in the whoosing sounds mine was making w/ my hitech cams + intake stuff. Kept speeding up next to me and doing mini flybys- gave me a thumbs up when I responded back just in fun.

Fiveoho,
Correction to my post above. It was actually a Dynojet, my bad. They read a little higher I believe.

Hey Jeremy....funny I was going to pm you to see how all that was going and then saw this post. Yes, that is a normal sound when you install all that stuff. I had done a cai when I had my 95 integra and it made the same sounds, so wasn't surprised when I did the same with my GT.

^ great minds think alike i was actually going to Pm you today

you have the exact same setup so who better to ask. the cai may be adding to it but the 'whooshing' sound is def coming straight from the TB/plenum. those along with the other mods i did seem to make a noticable difference. nothing crazy but seems like around 3500 and above , it pulls a little harder. throttle response is snappier. took the computer nearly 100 miles of drive time to fully conform to the changes tho. im happy with it

The cai most certainly is adding to the 'whooshing'. But we've upgraded to free flowing filter, bigger/smoother intake tube, ported/polished tb and plenum. I'd have been surprised if I didn't make extra noise . And my gas mileage has also improved.
