Hi guys, Newbie here hope to get ya'al help. I have a 95GT Conv, V8 5 speed. Bone stock. My car shuts off itself many occasional. And when you try to crank it up and it sounds like it does not receive fuel. Then, when u let it sit for a while it starts again. And while driving it jerks really bad and u see the car shuts off and sometimes restarts. I have changed a new MAF sensor, I changed the fuel pump, new filter. Pulled the codes, all I get is 314 with no engine light on. I guess it the thermactor which deals with my air pump. Pls help me, it is annoying me so much. Thanks guys

Welcome to the boards!

When it wont start or after it dies, do you have spark? How is fuel pressure?

If missing spark, it can be the TFI, coil, etc.

If missing spark and injector pulsing (checked with a noid light), it can be a bad PIP.

Though diagnostics are needed, it could well be a TFI or PIP.

Good luck.

its your distributer pickup also known as hall efx sensor I had the same problem with my 95 it only costs about $30 at a parts store but its a pain, you have to press out the gears to get to it. You may be better off buying a new or used dizzy and just swapping them out. If the fox dizzy is the same as the sn's then I can sell you the one from my fox for cheep.

Thanks for the reply guys. Question whats a dizzy ? .
Yes I check the spark from the coil it works. It really looks like a electronic work, coz the the whole car just shuts off, u see the RPM go down , and if jerks bumps up again. Again guys thanks for the help.

Correlation is not causation. I am not sure how someone would diagnose exactly what the fault is, via the info provided. That can lead to a lucky guess or tossing lots of parts and money at the car. Proper diagnostics dont take long and save lots of money and time.

Just MHO.

What I said was from my personal experience. My car was doing the exact same thing as his is and eventually it got worse and worse to the point were my car wouldnt start anymore, I spent $1500 on a new fuel pump, filters, complete ignition system minus the dizzy and it ended up being my distributor pickup like I said before. Its only a $25-30 peice so I would have it replaced or at least checked out if you can before you spend anymore money elsewear, and like I also said if they are compatible I'll sell you my distributor from my fox for $25

man i bet that sucked. at least u got a buch of new parts

Sorry I can't offer any help on the original subject, but I do know the fox dizzy will not work in the SN95 cars. I think the TFI is located directly on the dizzy in the fox's, and it's mounted remotely next to the air filter in the SN95's.

i went through the same thing. dumped an ass load in new parts. everything but the dizzy. drove me nuts for 3 months.said *** it and for a couple of hundred got me a new msd dizzy. purrs like a kitten when it idles, sometimes i think it dies it ide so smooth.

and Low-5.0 is on the money.

but i do agree that you should do proper diagnostics first. make sure you know whats wrong first, then change parts. saves a alot of headaches.
cause i would of burned it after buying the new dizzy and didn't work.

That is spot-on about the fox vs SN dizzy. For the '88, I have been lookin at getting an Econoline TFI, as it was remote mounted (like the SN95's) but used fox III wiring and compatibility.

1TRIK, I meant no offense. I do feel it is misleading to be so bold however in your diagnosis. Like I said, Correlation is not causation. Like if your car wont start and I told you that you have a rotten battery cable because my car would not start once and that was it. Sure that could be it, but there are 10 other things it could be.
I think your idea is a strong one, as did I (when I mentioned it in my first post). But more diagnostics are needed - plain and simple.

Correct. I only know that because JT explained to me TFI, PIP, and some differences in foxes and SN's no more than 30 minutes ago. lol
