Polishing help.

I started with 100 grit. Got out the big imperfections. Moved to 320. Then 400 dry and then wet.

Then I had these polishing pads that don't actually have grit counts to them. They came in medium, fine and extra fine. The extra fine was alot more fine than the 400 just by comparing it by touch. I used all those dry and then wet. Then I applied some Mothers Aluminum Polish.

It looks good, but it doesn't have that mirror like polished finish. I'm trying to get it to match my Accufab TB.

I guess I should just be satisfied, but I know it's possible to get that mirror look. This is for a cai, btw. It has an almost brushed/almost polished look to it. I'd like to make it really look polished, like those Anderson Power Pipes.

You need the correct polishing compounds.. I forget what they are called.. RC knows the name of the stuff, it actually cuts into the metal and makes it shine real nice. ANd elminates the smaller scratches

im defently not the expert on this hopefully the bling kings will chim in but u should try some turtle was compound the brown stuff then the turtle wax polishing the white stuff and the stuff you got do small sections at a time it will get to what u want just might take alot of work...

ive brought some horrible rims and nasty metal to a great shine before just took a long time

Go over it again with 600 fine grit (black sandpaper).
If you use a firm pad with some Tripoli and then use a separate pad with some white rouge.
Use the tripoli in a small area until you see the mirror shine and then move to the next area. After all that is done do the same with the white rouge the same way. Use the Mothers to finish it off. Godd Luck

The bend isn't that bad, for those of you who say the fox bend is worse.

I guess this is what it's going to have to look like for now.

I may polish it better some other time if I'm bored, but I have to go pic up the gf from the airport.

Where can you get white rouge and tripoli? When I polished my blower/intake/brackets I just sanded to a grit where it felt smooth and then hit it with the mothers billet polish. Now that the cars apart im gonna re do it right along iwth my alternator.

most autoparts stores should carry the Tripoli and WR, call ahead so you dont possibly waste a trip, i heard home Depot has it too
