What about TB? Is this worth it?
Ive got GT40p, stock cam, 73MAF. Would a bigger than stock TB have any ill effects? Any benefits that make it worthwhile?
I like the stock intkae tube thoughI would say grab a 65MM TB off an explorer. If however you have a stock intake that is going to be a choke point. as it is the same 55MM size as the stock TB. The Explorer intake is spaced the same as the TB- 65MM.
Also, if you have a 73MM MAF, I am guessing it's a C&L. Pure garbage IMO. Get a junkyard 70MM from a 94-95 GT or a Pro M.

It all boils down to vehicle use really. A guy that drives on the highway 20 + miles a day to work and goes to the track once a season prob wouldn't want 4.10 or even the beloved 3.73. I think if I had a 6th gear I'd like the 3.73's moreI don't agree with the op other than the fact that you can be over geared as much as under geared. There is always an optimal ratio for every application. In Noobz car I would assume a little more gear/proper suspension/tire combo would fit his demands. With an engine combo that is already making 580# tq gear multiplication isn't a need for the street. I have had 4 fox bodys with minor bolt ons that I added steeper gears(3 had 3.73-1 had 3.55). They all ran better after the change. For the avg fox owner a steeper gear is well worth it IMHO especially 2.73's(they absolutely suck!!)
So basically from what I am reading we should all have kept our Mustangs stock, because none of the basic bolt-on's are worth it. The only reason to modify the Mustang from stock and make it "worth it" is if it is going to be a drag only or road race only car. This is just plain stupid. A person has to start somewhere, and if it is not gears, it is going to be a CAI or throttle body, or underdrive pulleys. You have to start somewhere folks, and a lot of times the starting point is determined by money available and what the individual wants, if it is worth it or not is a moot point.

IMO gears should be tayloring the power band and in between 3.08 -3:55, on the 3.08-3.27 side for power adders and 3.27- 3.55 side for high compression n/a motors.
...and deleting the A/C is a terrible idea
Because everyone's quest in their 80s designed boxy-ass car with a truck engine is Mpgs. So yeah, gears help but unless you're building a funny car don't get carried away with gears. And NEVER go steeper than a 4.10LOL! 3.55's.
