I've tossed around the idea of getting a portable mp3 player. Something like the iPod, but maybe a cheaper version. I want one that has (or can be purchased) the option to play in a car and tune the radio to 88.1 or whatever it is. It doesn't have to have a ton of GB of storage. Around 5 would even be plenty for me I think. I don't know anything about them other than I've helped my brother load some mp3's into his Philips brand one.
Thanks for the help.

Look up on the specials for black friday. http://blackfriday.gottadeal.com/

You can finds these things next to nothing. I have a Sony 1G and its already way to much for me. Also I dont use it in the car or anything just for the gym. Got it on ebay for $47. I know Ipods have a few more features but it all depends on what you want. I was playing with the Ipod Nano the other day and to tell you the truth, its got too much crap, almost like a pocket pc.

Go to Circuit City's, Best Buy's, etc and play with them and see what you like.

Honestly it depends on where you are going to use it. While the ipod is more expensive. And has more features than you need. There is a lot more aftermarket stuff for it. So putting if you use it in the car. You have a lot more options. However I have been thinking about this.

Since I could take it anywhere. And it still holds plenty of songs.

I personally prefer an Ipod because of all it's space. I can load up all my songs and basically have like my own radio stations. I can have my alternative, station, and my classic rock station. and it'd only have the songs I like, and I wouldn't have to hear them a bunch of times.

Thanks to ASD I have one now. (Thanks Allen!) It's a small promotional one that will work for now. :) It holds about a cd worth of songs. I'll still keep my eye open for a decent deal on one that has a few gigs. Thanks for the input guys. Keep it coming.

I Bought an Ipod for the simple fact, it has any car accessories you can want! I went with the 20gig a new alpine head unit and alpine Ipod interface adapter hard wired in. No crappy sounding fm modulator. the quality on those suck!! It cost me $200 for the compatable Alpine head unit and $99 for Ipod interface. Got it all from crutchfield! Just my opinion but it was definately worth the money. of course i had my Ipod already, but it did cost me $299. you could get an used one on ebay cheap though. Check out Alpine, or Crutchfield's site for more info!!

I bought an iPod Nano. Great if you want a lot of music in a very small space. Not so great if you have any tendency to wash clothes without looking through the pockets :D. Kinda spendy, though .... you're paying extra to get something tiny, with a color screen.
