Ported GT40P Intake and Heads on a 351W, is this a bad idea?

I'm currently on a tight budget but can pickup a 96+ Explorer/Mountaineer engine from a friends junkyard for free. He also said he would give me a low mileage 351W in return for some recent work I did for him. So just wondering if the ported GT40P parts would flow well enough on the 351W and if so how much rwhp might I push. I plan on getting aftermarket parts at some point but this would be temporarily till I have the cash.

Just to clarify?
The lower intake from a 302 won't fit a 351w.
However, if you find a GT40 351w lower, then the 302 upper should bolt up just fine to the 351w lower.

I cannot say for sure, as I have never done this.
But I am pretty sure this is true.

I sounds like this would be a good way to get into a low buck 351w conversion.

Good Luck with it,
jason

it will work - it will just make most of it's power below 5,000 rpm or so. I think you'd be happy with it as a temporary combo. If your up to the conversion (takes more than a different pan and - yes - lower intake), then I'd go for it since the cost will be fairly minimal.
