who all has ported their own intakes, and to what extent did you port them. If you used filler to fill in areas that were low what did you use to do it? How well did it run afterwards? and please if you have them throw a few pictures up here. I"m gonna port a stock (spare) intake and I'll post pictures later, but first I need ideas!
thanks
Jack

this was heavily ported by my friend anthonydalrymple, using, I believe tmoss's guide.

the upper or left one (dirty one is a stock lower. I didn't get the desired effect with these pictures, but when holding them side by side, you can see ten times more air through the ports than with the stocker. even with these pics, you can see how much more area he has.

he used filler when he broke through. He broke through intentionally to get the widest port job.

Nice pics. You can really see the difference. What was the rest of his combo, and did he get any #'s?

His original setup was on an 89 heavy vert with 242k original miles. bone stock longblock, literally with this ported lower, 3:55 gears at the time, then went 4:10's, rear upper/lower control arms, msd ignit, alum shaft, and a couple of other minor bolt ons, with drag radials he was hitting, around 13.3-13.4's or so. It was extremely impressive. he is a complete master at maximizing the most out of a combo, and that's why he was able to get those times. There is also a thread on the corral, a small elite few are hitting hi 12's on a stock longblock, although he would have never seen that in that vert.

a semi smacked into his rear, and toteled his vert out, and I helped him convert a 4 banger 89 notch over to a v8. Now he's got a fresh stock short block, afr 165's, edelbrock rpm two, custom ground cam, 31 spline 4:10 rear, control arms, air bag, 4 banger springs, smaller front tires, 4 banger sway bar, and all the other typical bolt ons, and he's doing 11.9's-12.3's. needless to say, he's not using this stock lower any longer, so he sold it to me

hey bro,

where did he break through, do you have any pics of that, i have read of tmoss welding the inside of the elbows on the ports but i would be happier if i could see a pic of how this is welded before i take my lower to a welder and have them do it, i am in the processs of porting my lower using tmoss's and mouse's guid to porting.

by the way does anyone know why it is more important to get all the port flowing evenly rather than just get each one to flow maximum for NA motor? it seems like each one flowing max flow possible for that port would make the most power rather than an even flow rate?!

Just to let you guys know, I no longer weld the front runners. I have developed over a 2-year period a method of porting the runners that does not require welding (which was MINIMAL anyway if you've seen one of my intakes) to get the same flow. It requires more work on the long side wall up near the top, but the intake looks totally stock!
