Ok well seeing as I have absolutely no money and I have a set of stock upper/lowers sitting around that I planned on fully porting and polishing. I was wondering if anyone had any tips to squeaze as much out of them as I could. For example I know the GM guys with the Tune ports like to match the runners to squeaze that extra bit out of them. Any advise is welcome.

Tuned manifolds could never hurt.

From my understanding, polishing the intake is a waste of time, but porting an intake right can be beneficial, no doubt:nice:

You actually want a semi-rough surface area in the intake runners for better air flow.

If you want to look up some excellent information, check out Tom Moss's website:

I'd say just go slow and take your time. Better to take a little off at a time, then a whole bunch off at once that you can't add back on.

I do know in order to port the runners on the stock intake, you have to cut it in half. As it does not have a removable cover like an Edelbrock.

Porting the lower intake is where you will probably see the biggest gain(s).
