i talked to a local eng. builder about building a long block for me yesterday.

it's going to be a 331ci
however he suggested using Elderbrock performer rpm heads, a b-cam, and the knock off rpm intake. typhoon i believe was the name.

does this sound like a good combo
i'm looking to make about 400 at the crank and still pass the sniffer test.

what do you guys think?

yes, he offered to do a 347 but i'm nervios about that one i need the eng to last 100,000 miles

not a fan of the alphabet cams, there are much better cams out there. A trick flow top end kit or even the holley systemax top end kits are pretyy nice. You could even go with AFR heads or what ever heads, custom cam and the real edelbrock intake ( which has better casting )trickflow or holley for the intake and make a killer motor.

He can't be that good of an engine builder if he is suggesting that garbage for parts. Find another builder. There is NO reason not go with a 347, reliability issues are to due to poor engine assemblers. I recommend you contact fordstrokers.com, Jim Woods will lead you in the right direction and will not try to sell you unnecessary crap. He has some of the best prices in the industry aswell.

i told him i was thinking the afr 185's and a custom cam with the holley intake.

he said he does not liking using afr for the reason that they always are out of stock and there customer service is poor.

he was perfectly willing to build me a long rod 347 but i'm scared of that. i would rather give up a little hp and tq for reliability it's going to be a weekend toy not a race car.

Engine Might have to get a Dart block but don't want to and if I do, then 363 instead of 331. Thoughts on what I've already bought so far.......
