Possibly the dumbest question....

I may be doing my A/C delete this weekend with my UPR kit. This is my 1st expedition under the hood and messing with belts. My question is in regard to the belt tensioner. Is this a 'spring' loaded piece that just has to be moved to get the belt on or off or do I have to start loosening bolts, etc. I did a search on this one, but I've realized that it is probably too simple for anyone to ask. Like I said, this is the FIRST time I'm ever doing something like this. Thanks.

You can either use your lug wrench and place it under the tensioner and press down, which releases the pressure and allows you to take the belt off. OR you can put a socket or wrench on the pulley bolt and push down and that will also relieve the pressure. You'll get it.

what i did was got a rachet/socket and set it like i was trying to loosen the pulley bolt, stuck the rachet on there got a breaker bar and pushed down, the tensioner just moved out of the way (easy with one hand so you can move the belt)

Yup, breaker bar all the way. The socket you want is 18mm or 3/4". Either will work, but 18mm is better is the bolt head is a bit worn down.
