Post Pics! 60's Resto-Mod Stangs.

I was hoping to see some pics of some Resto-Mod Stangs. Needing some ideas. Really wanting to see pics of late 60's Fastbacks/Mach 1's. Would prefer to see something with Modular/Cammer Motors as well as nice aftermarket wheels (i.e. 18/19/20's) Or if anyone knows of any other sites that might be helpful. Any help would be appreciated.

I figured most opinions in this forum would be narrow minded, and out dated. But if I was looking for an opinion, I would have given you one.

I'm building a 68 Fastback. Im looking for ideas, not ignorant remarks. I am looking for more pics of cars like this.

Well, I’m in your defense, 20's are cosmetic, I suppose serving a purpose. I don't like anything larger then a 17, maybe some mixed sets, 18/back, 16-17 front, larger then a 17 ,in performance, is excess weight, imo.

I will try to not fit the category of most, but it is hard to find a vintage mustang with anything larger then a 17-18" wheel due to the fact that unlike the gm/camero guys, we have a considerably smaller aftermarket following. So mini tubs, air ride, etc aren't cheap, and are hard to find.

I will dig through my stuff to see what pics I have. I must a few thousand pics here and there.So are you looking for more pics of the fastforward fastback, i have more of it. You can also do a web search for the year one fastback, not a 67-68, but still sweet!It's featured in this....

p.s., if you edited the part about how f-up we are here, maybe you’d get better responses, and this thread wouldn't stray too far off topic.......just an idea, because there is good opinion and info here. If you can’t do that, then I wish your short patients and this thread luck there big guy…….

I might post a few photos shortly I'm not a bling kinda guy. I like my cars simple first billet parts that went onto my stang I ran over to the wire wheel to dress them down

Dude, tone that attitude down. Not that we have to defend ourselves here, but you should take some time to check out the kind of stuff that goes on in the Classic forum before you go ape****. Maintain. There are plenty of folks here that dig tastefully modified vintage Mustangs, but we've also seen our share of ugly big wheeled Eleanor'd crap heaps. There have been exceptions, such as the Fast Forward eBay Mustang you posted, but they really have been the exceptions.

One last thing... large diameter wheels can look very awkward on a early model. It really takes attention to ride height, tire sidewall height, and fender shape. As I recall, the Fast Forward Mustang had reworked wheel arches, but I might be wrong. I think the most important thing is that vintage Mustangs like a bit more tire sidewall to look pretty "right", and typically 18"-20" installs just don't have enough sidewall. Just MHO.

Read my original post. Now tell me at what point in time, there was any kind of an attitude. It wasnt until someone popped off with an immature statement that I returned the favor. I feel like I've been doing this long enough that I shouldnt have to put up with the **** comments posted above. I'm not looking to "pimp out" a classic. Im building a "Resto-Mod" from the ground up. Normally I agree.

MOST people who put large diameter wheels on any car (Early model or late model) just throw throw them on the car without the proper suspension. Once again, I've been doing this for a long time.
The frame has already been C Notched, and the car is being bagged by a Thorbecke Bros 5 link system. As of right now, I hope to only have to mini tub the car, but I really wont know until the frame is 100% complete.
Colorado Customs is cutting a one-off wheel for the car, and I want to make sure wheel diameter/width/backspacing/lip is perfect. There arent any cars like this anywhere around here, so I turned to Stangnet (My home for 4 years now) for some pics, and ideas. Too bad I am starting to see the true colors, of this particular forum shine thru.

Yep, it's real. Someone posted it here a while back... IIRC, apparently it showed up when they were doing casting for the 2Slow2Stupid in Miami.

Suffice it to say, enough of us feel like we've been doing this long enough that we don't appreciate your narrow minded assumptions about our points of view. There are those of us who care and bother to make the effort to help when we can. 99bringit, almost all 20s will look akward on a classic no matter what suspension setup you have. 19s, there may be some that look ok, 18s, yes, a lot look good, if you like the more modern style of low sidewall height. 17s can be fat and muscle-car looking, or made to a more low-profile. 17s have the advantage of providing good handling, comfort, rotating mass, and low tyre cost. If you go bigger, the ride starts getting harsher, the tyres more costly, and horsepower and braking get sapped by having to spin large chunks of metal around.

I don't think it is the greatest idea to get wheels that have no benefit other than looks, which is subject to opinion.

I guess it's a great idea if all you care about is car show points and other people's opinions.

I did see a 68 Camaro Z/28 at a show awhile back. It was black and very sharp. The only thing that was wrong with it was the fact it had 20'' rims.... It was just too much. You could barely tell the tire had a sidewall. I'm used to older cars having a little sidewall on the tire, so it just doesn't do anything for me to have giant rims on cars.

I guess theres "Different strokes for Different Folks."

Other than driven onto a trailer, and off again, and the occasional Sunday Cruise, ride quality wont be a determining factor. But you'd be surprised how nice the ride is on a "bagged" car, regardless of wheel size.

uhm trailer? it's a sad day when you own a car that can't be driven. I love seeing real cars with rock chips not some tool boxxes trailer queen. and as far as your gal in your avitar...please dude, thats just not right My 14 year old son said Dad...plz make it go away!

That would be the perfect job for an 03/04 Mach 1 engine, don't ya think? You could keep the shaker too. That'd look right at home on a 68 fastback. Silver with the same flamejob as your 99 and the red G-over-T emblems on on the fenders would be amazing.
