Hello all,
I'm looking for options for my 65's exhaust. Right now, it has 2.5 pipes with an X crossover and Dynomax mufflers. I can't decide if I want to run the exhaust throught the valance (like a GT) or just have them turn down behind the valence like a regular Mustang. Dump aren't an option.
Thanks,
Bryan

3 inch x pipe and mufflers, then 2.5 over the axle and out the valance:

Thanks for the pictures. Is it possible to get GT tips that are 2.5"? I think the stock ones were 2.25 or smaller. I'm probably going to go through the valance with tips, but I really like the original louvered style better. Are those the tips made by Flowmaster specifically for Mustangs? Was any work required to reroute them through as opposed to under the valance? I saw a HP TV show once where they put them on a FB (under the valance) and briefly mentioned you could reroute them.
Thanks for all the help.

gp001--Where did you get your pipes and tips? I like the way they fit close to the valance.

For the tail pipe section (From muffler, over rear axle, to the valance) I bought the flowmaster mandrel bent gt tail section. I did have to do some cutting of the pipe near the muffler since my car is lowered and the pieces were made for normal height.

I bought the tips at the local auto swap meet and I was told the tips were Gibson. However, when my buddy went to buy some from Gibson they were just a little different then the ones I have.

EDIT - As for fitting tight to the valance we took our sweet time and made several very small cuts to the pipe to get the tip right where I wanted it.

I could have slide my tips in further and had them real close to the valance but I ran without tips for a few months and learned why you don't want to do that....you will get black marks on the paint just above the valance opening and on the bumper....granted I am running a little rich on a heavily modyfied motor so I blackened fast, but even on a stock well running motor you will eventually get soot/discolorizations. Bringing the tips out a little further helps prevent this.

GP001, is your 6 cyl's paint covered with soot?
