hey guys, I haven't had a classic mustang for awhile now, and I can't ignore the itch anymore. SO, I was looking around and found this for $1,200.00 it ha a clean title, original V8, C4 tranny, and 8" rearend. I could probably get him down some, but how much should I offer him? I am aware of the severity of the rust damage on the roof, and I am an auto tech, so, I can pretty much handle all mechanical problem it has and have a close tie with a body shop owner. please let me hear what you think. THANK!!!!:SNSign:

Rust holes in the roof? I would walk away from that one. That indicates the whole roof structure down under the dash, etc. has all been subjected to rust damage. Very expensive to repair!

Very scarey! If you could weld in a new section from a donor along the front edge an re-vinyl it, it may be okay. But, if that progressed the way mongo suggested, then run...run fast!

any 69 with a vinyl top is going to have some rust damage underneath, the good thing about it though is the repair work doesn't have to perfect if you install a new vinyl top. just make sure to use a good epoxy primer underneath so it won't rust that bad again. my top was in pretty bad shape too, but it was further back and under the seams of the top

eh, if you could get it for way under a grand I would take it if you are ready for a big challenge but otherwise walk away. There will be others.

Mongo, that's a 69 the cowl unbolts, so they're not bad to repair, besides the roof rust is from the vynal top, pretty common. It's alot easier to repair than the unibody crap down under
