Power steering bracket fabrication

Hi guys,

I have a 67 coupe that just got a 302, carb, with a mechanical fuel pump. Im going with a power steering setup but the p/s pump wont go into its original place becoz of the fuel pump. Has anyone tried making a bracket to move it above the fuel pump or any other place? Any tips would be appreciated!

I'm kinda fuzzy on this, the original power steering pump and fuel pump are on the same side, so why won't yours fit? Granted, the p/s pump hangs out a bit, but there's plenty of room.

Was you car previously an A/C car. If so you need to make sure the bracket and pump are for A/C otherwise you need to switch either. My 68 has a mechnical and P/S I will say its a fit just not much hand room between the two.

My 302 came off an 89 mustang. Would that be the same as the 302 you have?(I think they came on 68's too if im not mistaken??) Not familiar much with ford engines. Are the accessories on the front of the engine set up the same way with same brackets on both the 68 and 89 engine?

If you're planning on using the v-belt drive like would have come on your '67, then I think you can use '67 style brackets with no problem. The only area you may have problems would be the crank pulley, but I'd bet a 4 bolt style, dual groove pulley would bolt on. I do have one other question: since '89 5.0's were all fuel injected, and therefore used an electric pump in the tank, you must have switched to an older style timing chain cover, right? If so, just dig up the brakets and pulleys that fit your cover. Either that or use the brackets and serpentine drive that came with your motor. All the 5.0's I've ever seen used power steering as well, and I'd bet you could use the p/s pump that came on a 5.0 to run the '67 p/s cylinder by just having a hose custom built.
