okay, so I am an armature racer of my freshly bought freshly re-built 1993 lx hatchback. The engine has been swapped out and replaced with a 302 stroked out 10 to a 306, with a t5 rebuilt trans with a king cobra clutch. The car has a few modifications. BBK Single Stage Induction (SSI) upper and lower intake manifold, BBK cold air intake, electric fan, smog pump & a/c delete pullys, BBK fuel rails with orange injectors that I believe are the 19's or 24's, ford racing gt40 heads, with a b303 cam, the headers are long tube BBK headers funneling into an off-road HPipe with catback flow master exhaust, underneath a 3.73 rear end. ** My question is regarding the rear end. Can it handle it?

Any estimates on the amount of horsepower I have potential to produce on a dyno sheet would be appreciated. Thanks!

The rear end will hold no worries there. I'm still seeing 456-513 gear sets put in stock 8.8 at the drag strip. Your hp is about 285-325

If it's a 306 it is NOT stroked but rather bored .030 over (Means they cut the cylinders a bit bigger to make them smooth/new again). If it were truly stroked then the gt40 heads would be a bit limiting factor. However with a 306 that is a solid mod list and set up. The orange injectors are 19's and are an item I would recommend changing to at least a 24 with matching MAF (Pro M is my choice on mass air meters personally, I've had bad luck with C&L... although others use them just fine).

Anyway, your butt dyno will likely feel somewhere between 275-290 depending on how forgiving it is on any given day.

Do not be afraid of the rear, the 8.8 is great, esp in the power range you're in.

B cam? At least 600hp if not more.

Yes your rear end can handle all that monster power from the B cam

Cmon man, Its a B CAM . Maybe 800 HP. The B cam is the best cam ever designed by man.

It was sarcasm. Don't be hating on the almighty B cam now!
Op like previous statements you're probably around 275 rwhp at the most.

A custom ground cam might help you get to a close number but heads forged internals and definitely a different block will get you 600hp and a bit of cash.id be more then willing to fly to where ever this guy is and pay for him to have a dyno pull done to prove it no where near 600 hp

All hail the B CAM. If that motor doesn't make at least 600hp and get 30mpg, he's doing something wrong.

Like I said I just bought the car, my plans are eventually to swap a 408 Windsor but that is not going to be until after I return from my ten of service in the marines. I'm seventeen years old and I mainly bought the car because it has a flawless body, and frame. I understand the b-cam isn't a huge power addition, but at the same time I wasn't the one who put it in. I just want the car basically to show up all my friends with their stock new edge GT's. Not to get bashed for starting out with the car on a mustang forum.

I would estimate 260-275 wheel HP.
The 8.8 is a tough axle but it will depend on a lot of things. If it has the factory 28 spline axles, they have a history of being weak. Dialing in your launch to roll the tires over, and/or running a slick with a more forgiving sidewall than a drag radial will help lessen the shock. If it has the stock trac-lok in it, there is potential it's time for a rebuild. If you start to notice 1 wheel peel, you'll have your answer.
Having said that I have 100's of passes on stock 28 spline axles launching at 5000+ rpm on wrinkle walls... when running drag radials I always slipped the clutch to avoid the shock from dumping on radials. Many folks have broken the stock axles being less aggressive. If you are running a stock clutch, that will help save the rear end (and trans) as it'll slip a touch on its own on hard launches.

BTW, thanks for your service.

my gt40p setup got to 265rwhp/300rwtq, so right around in that ballpark sounds about right. had a 50/50 shot of beating most stockish 3v gt's. the aluminum versions, depending on how old they are, may or may not be better. watch for fuel leaks with the bbk intake, was a problem for a while with the provided rails, don't know if they ever fixed it.

dont mind the b-cam bashing, it's all in good fun. most of the fox guys who've been in it for a while have run one at some point (just like the tfs1 and e-cam, but the b-cam gets picked on more). it works ok, there is better out there, but it's infamous.

the 8.8 will survive what you have and more, but as stated the axle shafts are a bit weak if you shock them too hard. a junkyard explorer/f150 carrier and some moser/strange 31-spline axles will give you some peace of mind.
