Ok boys and girls here the situation. One day my window on my drivers side started going up and down real slow. Then on the next day wouldn't do anything. I thought it was just the switch. But I pulled it out 2 find a wire melted through and exposed is this the problem or did this fry my switch and what shoudl I do. Any help would be apreciated. The first 2 pics or of the back of the switch and the last 2 are of the wire.

Something you already know...
Remove the door mounted speaker & the upholstery panel to gain access to the motor. There are 3 screws (5/16" hex head, I think) that secure the motor in place. Remove them and the motor comes out without any problems. Once you remove all the screws from the motor, and it falls away from the gear teeth on the arm for the glass, the glass will move up and down. You may need a helper to hold the glass once the motor screws are out, since the gear on the motor holds the glass from sliding up or down

Something you may not know...
The motor is the same for left side or right side, only the gearboxes are different. If you can't find the complete assembly for the side you want, you can get either side and use the old gearbox on the new motor.

How do I check the motor 2 see if its bad>?

it will move slow or stop and then move, whatever. I have both rear window motors and some others if ya want pm me.

im going to guess it is the problem. it was probably lossing contact when the window was shaking around in the door and then it finally let go. have you tried to reattach it to se if the problem persists?

Yea I tried but it still didn't work with the old switch or the new 1. So I don't know.

did you check all of your fuses? could have blown one while jumping the contact on and off. and make sure that ground in the green tape is secure also.

The wire that came out is at the bottom near the lock button the locks the swtich on the passenger side.

so you did try to re-connect the wire and nothing happened. an you come to t-ville this weekend? we can take the drivers side motor out of my notch and see if it fixes it.
