I currently have an 01 Gt with 3:73's k n filter, mac offroad h pipe, and bfg dr's. When racing from a stoplight is it best to just leave it in drive or powerbrake it? What do you auto guys powerbrake at rpm wise I heard around 2k is that true? Can you guys help me out here? Thanks to all that reply.

Yes leave it in drive and around 2150 used to work great on my old ride.

I would just step on the brake (leaving it in drive) and get on the gas to rev it until about 1800-2100 so you can hear the engine going, but the breaks have not yet let the tires spin. And then when the light goes green i would let off the brakes and hammer it. It worked the best.

This was with my Automatic 98GT with 4.10 gears and street tires

Dude crank it till your engine is torching but the tires are not spinning. With some decent tires you should get it till like 1800 to 2100 when green hop off line and punch it

If you are really serious about street racing, the best method is to rev the engine just below your rev-limiter in neutral, then drop in into drive when the light turns green. You'll get the hole-shot everytime.

In an automatic, that is stock...no C4 or anything...thats a great way to break the transmission. Yeah it will get you your best ET a few times. But I'd be surprised if that lasted any longer than 10x using that method.

You'd hear a pretty cool *BOOM* though.

If you are really serious about street racing. Than get a C4 automatic, or a Manual, or just plain practice.
