Alright, i searched this so no one flame me!
I got an svo fiberglass hood for my stang. Its red and my car is white. I really dont want to pay a couple hundred to get a nice paint job on it. Will it be impossible to prep and rattle can it and clearcoat it? i have never head much luck with that method. what do you guys think? i would just black it out, but i want the hood to match the car.

thanks
:nice:

you'll never get the color to match perfectly - it has to be the ford white color code - probably oxford white, but it could be off... you NEVER know - and it's gonna look kind of like crap, but white is the GREATEST color in the world, it hides almost anything... but your hood is just too big of an area to spray can clear- just pay the money - you'll be glad you did - and it shouldn't be much more than 100 bucks if they just paint it n don't have to install it - just bring them the hood and the color code, and you'll puti t on yourself - take it to MAACO dude, that should be cheap, and their work isnt THAT bad... they are known for no detail work, and overspray and filthy cars, they can't do anyof this if they don't have your car, just let them spray the hood

it could be done, but like paul said color match could be an issue.
remember that your paint job will only be as good as your prep...
here's a great tip when using spray cans... warm all of your cans (primer, sealer, base and clear coat) in bucket of hot tap water, this will increase the bottle pressure, reducing the chances of spattering...
