pro-m maf question

I'm looking for a new maf and looking at the pro-m specifically. Here on jegs

they have two plastic 24#ers for the 89-93, one says cold air tuning, what's the difference?

Save yourself the headache of having to upgrade again later, just get the 80mm.

I'm not sure how exactly the pro m name was revived, but from what i know, the old pro m is now PMAS.

I really can't justify the extra cost of that one since I don't plan to mod my motor anymore. I just did a gt40p and explorer intake swap so don't need anything huge. Just looking for something to use my 24# injectors with.

If you check their site, they give a description of the "cold air tuning". Basically, all the meters are tested. When it says they are cold-air calibrated, it means they were calibrated hooked up to a cold air intake (fender well mounted air filter). Others were tested with an open element in the engine compartment (IIRC).

They used to ask if you were using a conical or flat panel air filter as well - don't know if they still do that for their Bullets. My 77mm Pro-M has the conical filter mounted directly on to it so it was calibrated as is.

I was looking at c&l maf's and I can get a 73mm for only $125. Is there any reason not to get the c&l? I have heard some bad things but nothing specific.

edit: I just noticed that it only comes with a sample tube and you need to transfer the stock electronics. Seems a bit sketchy. Where can I get a good price on a pro-m or pmas unit?
