Problem, wondering the cause.

Ok, its getting worse as i drive the car. My car wont accelerate past 3000 rpm's when floored. Unless i leave my foot on the floor for a good 10 seconds then it will finally go past 3000 and jumps around 3500, but doesn't accel smoothly past 3000. At idle its at around 500 to 600 Rpms. I can't put my automatic in Reverse because the engine stalls and dies. It is realllll slow off the line and takes awhile to get up to 10 mph, kinda bumpy too. I can hear something whinning off the line when i accelerate. Anyway thats about all the information i can gather for you all. I have narrowed it down to the Torqe Converter. Anyone agree with my? Are these the signs of a bad Torqe Converter?

hopefully, your namesake, Mr AOD will speak up (Mustang John)....but with the elimination you did, trans seems pretty likely. the trans does not have bands to adjust right? i dont think so. TV cables - i think they do. might be worth checking its adjustment, but be careful cuz it is real important and easy to misadjust, i think.

you are topped up on fluid right?
good luck.

what happens if you start out in 1 (vs drive)?
*note, that info wont help me, but it might be useful to someone whom actually knows about aod's. :-)

Yeah, I would check to see about the throttle cable, and see whether your throttle body is opening all the way. When there is no load on the engine(neutral), it is easy for the engine to rev. When you have it in drive, you have much more load on the engine. Just because you are mashing the gas as much as you can, does not mean that the throttle blade is opening all the way. Just a thought....
