Hey guys, i just got around to installinf my FRPP 70mm TB and my C&L plenum a little while ago. The car definitely has some more pep to it and its a pretty good feeling considering i paid very little for the parts.

However when i put everything back together the car was running at about 1200 rpm for like 5 mins and i thought i would be smart and adjust the screw on the throttle body.

Well i did and i dropped it down to like 900 rpm

Well now when i give it gas it will come down to like 1500 rpm and stay there for a few secs then come back down.

So i tried to adjust the throttle body screw back to what it was and it went back up to idlging at 1200 rpm but now when i drive it and i come to the light it will stay at 1500 rpm for like 10 seconds.

I'm thinking of just putting the old TB back on which wouls be crappy because im liking the few ponies i gained from the combo.

Also i wonder if i could match up the number of threads of my stocker to the ford racing one because i honestly dont remeber how much i adjusted it.
 
Sounds like a vacuum leak to me. Even though it is not 100 percent safe, I've used a little carb cleaner to identify leaks before.

Make sure everything is tightened down. The TB/plenum should not cause this by itself.
 
when it was first installed i adjusted the screw and the idle dropped to like 900, but then my buddy said put it back how it was and that the computer will adjust to it by itself. well i tried putting it back to the best of my abilities but its idling high and i think im just going to throw the stock tb back on and leave the CL plenum on. i did also clean the throttle body with choke and carb cleaner, and i noticed on my stock one there was a sign that said to not clean the throttle body because of a special spray that was on it, im thinking of putting the stock one back on but wanted to clean it out first, but now im thinking i shouldnt even clean it

Also when i adjusted the tb screw on the 70mm tb it went down to like 900 rpm but when driving the needle would stick for like 10 seconds at 1500, is this maybe because the plenum is supplying more air and with a different curve
 
yea im going to throw the stocker back on there, its just that its really dirty and i wanted to clean it but there is a sticker on there that says not to, apparently ford sprayed it with something that acted as a sealant for when at idle to completely seal the TB. id hate to put it back dirty, anyone clean their stocker without any issues?
 
Yes Ford sprays the butterflies in their TBs with a coating to help it resist build up of gunk over time. You would be just fine cleaning it with a nonabrasive, mild cleaner, but nothing that would risk stripping the coating. I port and polish 05 and up TBs for S197's and the first one I did I glass bead blasted it and took that coating off.:rolleyes: Wasted a lot of time, but learned a valuable lesson.

Just clean it gently with a mild cleaner and you'll be fine.
 
well i took some choke and carb cleaner to it and installed the original TB and the car runs perfect as it did before i messed with it, i think it lost some of the pep that it had with the CL plenum and 70mm TB since putting the stock TB back on but im fine with that and i dont really wanna mess with it too much right now.
