Kinda long..

OK, SO I blew up my last motor and went with another stock block, bored .030 over to a 306ci. It has stock crank and rods with ARP bolts. It has .030 TRW forged pistons (9.8:1) compression. The heads are Pete Kotzur ported E7's (Flow 210cfm @ .500"), it has the B-303 cam with 1.7 roller rockers, full exhaust (jba headers/mac o/r h-pipe/flows), gears, pullies, ported tock lower intake, comp cams pushrods, 65mm throttle body. maybe some other mods, but... When we first got the car together, we took it out for a test, and the car hauled ass. Then some rockers started ticking, so we pulled the valve covers and I torqued the arms down to 22-24lb ft. to make sure they were all tight. Well, after that we also had to drop the tranny. After getting the tranny up and everything ready, we took her back out and she was just a dog! A friends Vert' with pullies, exhaust, and gears put about 4 cars on me from a 35mph roll. :spot: Ok, so we take it home, set timing to 14* (was at 31*), set the TPS to .98, change out the MAFs because I was running hella rich, etc etc. Took it back out, same result.. Just a BIT faster. :( The power came on (if you could call it power) so rough... the whole motor shook, etc. So yesterday, we pulled the valve covers and re-adjusted the roller rockers, and set them the right way. Well, the car is a TINY bit faster, but I did notice something, the power came on MUCH smoother. Unfortunately, one of them came loose, so we are going to have to adjust them again today. Any other ideas why my car is so slow? We have tried almost everything and it is driving me crazy. As she sists now, id be lucky to run a 15.5 in her. Thi car should be going low 13's. Again, there is a bug somewhere and we cant just seem to find it. :bang: Something is killing my low end severly. Any help at all is really appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Check the timing spout connector. A frined of mine had his go bad, and the car ran like $hi+ unless we had the timing cranked up. Beyond that, not really sure, but you should be showing your buddy YOUR taillights.

chances are if it rain good before you took it back apart you messed something up, double check all vacuum lines, make sure distributor is in properly, check fuel pressure, it is possible when rocker loosend pushrod damaged lifter, possibly you bent a rod, are they hardened? I would make sure that all rods are good and make sure rockers are on properly

You said you dropped the tranny too right?...maybe you messed something up putting that all back together? clutch not properly adjusted...just a quick thought but maybe? sounds really strange that a built engine like that couldnt keep up with a stock vert. maybe you just arent putting the power to the ground. good luck man
