I was installing my Professional Products 70mm throttle body and found two problems.

First, the IAC gaskets they supply have the air transfer holes offset, and the t/b's holes are parallel like the stock one. Not a problem that can't be solve with a sheet of gasket maker so I'm not really stressing that.

The second problem is that the TPS adjuster ring built into the new t/b moves the tps out far enough to cause the IAC to contact the tps before it even contacts the t/b mating surface. Double checked everything, but to no go.

After searching I found that there are at least two part numbers for the TPS for our years. Anyone know if they are that physically different that one would work and not the other? Even the Pro Products tech guy seemed perplexed and said he never heard of that. Curently waiting for the "engineer" to call me back.

On Saturday, if they can't help me, I'm going to my friends machine shop and make an aluminum spacer to deal with this.

Anybody with a Professional Products 70mm t/b experience this.

Thanks and best regards to all.

are you using the TPS from your original TB?
there are 2 different TPS from the parts store, take your original and compare the 2.
had that problem when my TPS took a poop.
they gave me the wrong one,so i had to make another trip to get the right one.

as i can remember, they both bolted up fine, but the TPS internal "adjuster"moved different on the one that did not work for me.

I didn't have any trouble with the sensors on my Professional Products tb, but the bolt pattern to mate to the intake / elbow was off and had to be redrilled. That's a lot of fun to do to a shiny new part.

Yes. I used the original tps. Unfortunately, I live on an island, and part stores here leave alot to be desired ( meaning, they don't have tps's laying around for older cars.). This sounds crazy, but I was thinking that the 86-93 tps's look a little thinner than the 94-95's. Anyone know if the bolt patters are the same between models. Maybe I could just get a 86-93 and use that instead. I have no problem soldering and heat shrink tubing the wires to adapt to my plug. Spent a little more than I wanted on this phase because of order mistakes and such so I'm trying to avoid buying tps's and having the same problem. Didn't have to do anything to my mounting holes. The elbow to intake and t/b to elbow bolt patterns were ok actually. Guess I was lucky in that respect.
It was weird. The parts list included with the t/b show an aluminum spacer and longer bolts. Those were obviously not included. But the Pro Products website has a newer parts list that does not show those things. I was thinking that maybe there was a modification made during the casting process that negated the need for the spacer, but unfortunately I got one of the t/b's that needed a spacer but was not sent with one. Knowing my luck, that's probably what happened.
If the "engineer" (sorry engineer)can't help me, I'll just make a 1/2 inch aluminum spacer using the correct gasket as a template. Oh well, another "economy" based decision bites in a$$.
Tech lines leave alot to be desired these days.
Thanks guys!

Hopefully the picture of the 1/2 inch spacer I made will show.
All's well now in paradise. Hopefully helps anyone else who may encounter this. Probably no one else will have this problem as I am cursed at times. It's funny, my spacer is exactly the same thickness as the tps adjuster spacer. Hmmm

No kidding. I double checked everything, but that's what I had to do to make it work. Like I said earlier, the parts list included with my kit listed a spacer and screws. Maybe I got a very early casting that neede one? Anyway, who cares now as problem solved!!

I have the same throttle body on my mustang ( bought it from Blue Oval Industries, 2/2/10) and the mounting area for the IAC was extended to compensate for the adjustment ring for the TPS. I had plenty of clearance between the TPS and IAC you can check out my video on youtube.

YouTube - Dick's 331 ford mustangstroker 001

PS; As you will see in this video the mounting area for the IAC was extended as part of the machining process when thay made the throttle body. I dont know why they would change this. I would send it back and tell them to send the right one. They may have a new manufacturer making their throttle bodies.

What do you guys really expect from a Chinese throttle body? It's probably made of pot metal too.

Send that Chinese junk back, and tell them to shove it up their arse. You can pick up a quality used one on ebay for the same price all day long. Why waste your time getting a pot metal one to work, that's probably going to jam and shove you into a tree anyway.

Why so much hate? I have this throttle body and it works great and the mounting plate for the TPS is tops. None of the other throttle bodies have this feature. Without that adjustment plate for the TPS you have to remove the IAC which is a pain in the a$$ on the 94-95 5.0 stangs. Not only that you have to drill out the mounting holes on the TPS in order to geat any adjustment out of it on a BBK or Edelbrock or any other company that makes throttle bodies for the 94-95 5.0 stang. I'm not happy that it is made in China, I wish it was made in the USA it would mean more jobs here. But lets face the truth a lot of our go fast parts are cast in China and then machined in the USA. Scat cranks are cast in China and then shipped to the USA where they are machined and then sold. I hear that the transmission for the 2011 Mustang is made in China, so where is the rage and hate for this known fact. Just look at the window sticker and check it out. Not everything coming out of China is bad or of poor quality. And I bet you dont shop at WalMart. lol.

I hate Chinese junk. It's one problem after another. You can't avoid buying stuff made in China now regardless of where you shop, but you can do your best where better stuff is available. Keep in mind, the Chinese don't recognize liability laws. So if that throttle body puts your car in a tree, don't even bother with a law suit. It's a culture of making things as cheap as possible, with no regard for quality or safety. I don't see why you would buy a Pro Products throttle body, when you can buy a better more reliable one slightly used for the same price.

As I said before none of the other throttle bodies have the modified mounting plate for the TPS and IAC mount. The Professional Products have modified the mounting areas for the TPS and IAC. If the other companies had this modification on the 94-95 throttle body I get it from them. Its a pain in the ass to have to remove the IAC and to drill out the TSP mounting holes so you can make fine tune adjustment on the TSP. This is a known fact Ford designed the TSP for the 94-95 5.0 gt with zero ability for fine tuning and the redesigned intake made it neccessary to place the IAC & TPS on one side of the throttle body. Professional Products address the flaw of mounting the IAC & TPS on the same side of the throttle body the other manufacturers didn't.

The '94/95 TPS doesn't need fine tuning adjustments like the Fox 5.0's. The EEC "zeros" the TPS on startup. You just need to make sure it is around 1v when installed.

I've seen those Pro Products sold under the FMS label for about $60. I've always kind of wondered about them and their quality.
