Project 2 valve to 4 valve.. :)

I'm starting on a project car in the next few weeks..

I purchased a 2004 GT, with 31K miles.. It has a built 2 valve with worked over Patriot heads/comp 270AH cams, and a Reichard sheet metal intake with a Vortech T-trim. The car made 541whp @ 10psi.

It's fast, but, I'm not very happy with the lagtastic reichard/t-trim setup.. So, I'm going to be making some changes..

I plan on running a set of 4 valve C heads, with a ported 99 Cobra intake manifold, and I will be switching to a Novi 2000 blower. I've run the Novi before, and IMO, it's MUCH better than the t-trim that's on the car currently.

The block will remain as a built iron (Windsor) setup. It currently makes right at 9:1 C/R with the 2 valve heads, so, I expect a few tenths less with the 4 valve heads.. which works great for me, as I plan on running higher boost levels. Here's what I have so far for the conversion..

'99 4 valve C-heads
'99 Cobra valve covers
Stock cams, valves and retainers
Comp heavy duty springs (newer springs.. good for higher boost levels)
'99 Cobra intake manifold
'99 Cobra front timing cover
'99 Cobra timing chains, guides, tensioners and gears
Navigator water pump
03/04 Cobra oil pump and pickup tube
BBK twin 65mm TB
Griffin radiator
60lb injectors
Billet fuel rails
-6 fuel feed from the tank to the front

Block-

Windsor casting, .020" over
CP pistons
Modmax h-beam rods
ARP main and head studs
Felpro MLS head gaskets

Trans/rear-

Viper T56 (out of '06 Viper ACR)
Mcleod 8 bolt flywheel
Strange axles
Strange adjustable shocks
subframe connectors

Parts on order, or soon to be ordered..

Novi 2000 head unit and bracket/idlers for '99 Cobra
Precision 24x12x4" intercooler
3" polished aluminum tubing kit with 3 ply silicone and t-bolt clamps
Tial 50mm blow off valve
Stock L-maf with MAFia (blow through)
SFI bell housing for Viper trans
26 spline twin disc clutch (undecided on brand)
Chrome-moly SFI drive shaft for T56 swap
Battle boxes
'99 Cobra coolant crossover tube
'99 Cobra alternator
'99 Cobra long tubes

That's all that I can think of for now.. If anyone sees anything that I'm missing, feel free to add it.

I'll be adding pics/details as this swap progresses. I couldn't find any up to date how-to's on this swap, so I'll be making a "how-to" with the info obtained in this thread. :)

Here's how it sat when I purchased it a few weeks ago..

Not bad for 13,800.00 :) I've managed to sell the blower setup and intake manifold.. recouped 4300.00 so far.

I've seen video footage of your car.. pretty sick for a 2 valve! :)

The Novi 2000 is such a beast of a blower.. you really can't go wrong with the right trans/gear.

I got a REALLY good deal on the C heads.. and, they'll flow well enough for what I'm looking to do.

thanks

the Novi 2K works great at higher boost levels. mine was hurting at 11psi but really came alive with the built engine!

The Novi 2000 is more compareable to a F1R, or YSI.. Vortech underrated the Novi 2000 when they bought out Paxton, so they could market it with the T-trim. The Novi is a much bigger blower, though..
