Project 88 LX Vert......Im In Deep...

Boy, Ryan, you sure had a lot of guys telling you what a piece you bought, and how much money you wasted. Feels nice to shut them right the hell up, don't it? You were dead on about your rust prognostications, and you were right about your choice of 5.0's to pick up. Congrats again. Try this stuff called Goof Off on a piece of apholstry, I use it to clean paint from carpet (I paint houses on the side), it won't mess with the blue dye, comes from, like Ace, maybe Home Depot?

You know what ryan, congrats on the purchase and good luck. As pretty much everyone here knows I bought my car when I was a little younger than you and it was in as bad or worse shape and I turned it into a magazine worthy car (at the time it was in the magazine lol) so theres no reason for you to not be able to do the same. I also went through a couple cars before I could drive (68 galaxy 500 vert, and an 88 lx vert).

Just don't give up when the going gets tough. Also it may be better to paint the car without a new top on it. Just put the top down and cover it with paper. That may make it easier to keep from getting paint around the back edges of the top.

yeah thats what we plan to do...this way we wont have to lean over and on fresh paint..

You honestly think you're gonna bring that car back to life with 1,500 bucks and have money left over? maybe with 3 grand and a dream.

yeah...the total investment in my dad 5.0 is right at 3,100...fro everything he has bought for it..including paint..fixing tons of rust...just wait...you will see... and my dad paint 1,500 for his.

yes...the nes top came with the stang..to that saves me 300...

paint will cost me about 500-650...WE DO EVERYTHING OURSELVES!!!!!

then i still have close to a grand left for odds and in's...

i cant wait to shove this all in your face when i do get it all done for under 1,500...and to tell you truth...id bet money i will get it paint..new top on..and her running like a top for under 1,500...

just wait..ill show you

man the body of the 4 cyl coupe conversion i did started out in about that condition...actually no it didn't...i had a straight body and NO rust. haha let me tell you though man, the feeling when you're done is that much better. looks like you got A LOT of work ahead of you, keep us posted!

i belive he got that tooken away by the cops...(read his car domian)

lets see a lightbar on that vert!

for paint, just take your time with the prep work.thats where 80 percent of paintwork can go wrong. get it nice and smooth and check everything. i dont know how crazy your going to go with the wetsandin and buffing, but with that, be careful, go slow, and keep the paper CLEAN.

o and throw some d's on that beech.:nice:

kid you can do it.. but i doubt money left over.. more or less i'd expect to see good paint, maybe some ponys, new top.. and a clean stock car.. i highly doubt you'll get into modding with the 1500.. unless you have ungodly connections like we do..
