Proper break-in

My 2009 custom ordered manual GT shows up the end of this month. I'm wondering what everyone's thoughts are on how to properly break in a new car are? Thanks in advance for any tips!

Drive it like you stole it, I have with my new one I am into month 2, with 3,300 miles

early oil change too dealer recomended 2,500 miles, (They are doing it for free)

to do so you will have to turn the TCS off

LOL nice tips. Why the 2500 vice 3000 miles on oil changes? I've also "heard" that when breaking in a new car you should drive in different manners (i.e. all up on it and more casually) to get it all broken in. Is there any truth to this?

I switched to Pennzoil Platinum after the first 500 miles. I varied my engine RPMs by doing several WOT runs.

I was taught in auto mechanics to change the oil in a new engine before 1000 miles to remove any metal shavings from initial start up. I use to be common for them to put a magnet in the bottom of the pan but not sure if they still do that.

yes, vary ur engine speed. Stop and go combined with some interstate driving. Mix it up. That being said, new cars don't really require much of a break-in period like older vehicles. 1,000 miles and u r good to go.

Drive it like you stole it from day one. That's what your warranty is for. Also, not only does the computer learn how you drive, but the engine and other components wear differently depending on the stress put on them. Ever notice old people's cars generally go to the shop more. It's because they don't put any stress on it, so when it does see stress, it breaks.
