The 1980 gas tank in my 82 has finally sprung a leak, exactly on the bottom of the tank. Has a sheetmetal screw in it tonight as a temp fix.

This is a 60% track car, I just had not planned to add the bulkhead and stuff right now.

So let me know the pros and cons of just changing to a fuel cell, or replacing the tank with a new one and a sump.

Thanks.

if u take it to the track they may not let u run it if u dont have the bulk head.
u need to vent it and cap it if u dont have a return type reg.

if u go with a cell get 1 that does not have the fittings that are removable my friends car has them and they leak fuel.

Just buy a stock style tank. With a sump if you want or one of the new aeromotive stealth ones if $ allows. I have had vehicles with fuel cells and won't again unles its 100% track. Mounting, pumps, senders, fill spout, venting, fuelines, wiring if electric, capacity, loss of trunk area...... just some of the problems or extra stuff to deal with. A good stock one can be found for cheap or even free.

Fuel cells are a Pain in the A$$! Just remember when it's 10 degrees outside you have to pop the hatch and get out to fill er up. If there was a way to keep the stock tank on mine, trust me I would have!
