Can I pull the engine and tranny out together? Where would I hook up the chains to and what do I absolutely have to take off? I am looking to do this quite fast and the fewer the parts the better. Any suggestions

Yes you Can just Jack the Back off the car up pretty good and set jack stands and hook your chains one on the front driver side of your heads and the other on the rear passenger side of head or vise versa and just take your time and work it out.you may have to adjust the chains a couple of times to get the right angle to bring it on out.

when you pull the motor and tranny are you going to be taking the two apart when they are out? if so take them apart before hand, it'll save you alot of trouble. I have a plate that mounts to my intake to pull the motor so i'm not sure where you should hook the chains up to. my friend pulled both out before and I know he had to take the fan off radiator too, uhmm exhaust manifolds and driveshaft of course. he said it was a royal pita.

no i am not going to take it apart once it is out. it is goign right into another car as soons as i yank it so it will be on the cherry picker for the time it take to roll one car out and another car in. you say hook to the heads, do you mean to the bolts where the headers go to ? or do you mean another spot. I still have those stock rings which I guess are for yanking out the motor but i dont know if they are strong enough for the tranny as well and do I need to get grade 8 bolts or are the stock header bolts ok??

No i mean to the front and rear of the heads like where your accessories bolt..power steering, alternator etc in the front and on the opposite in the rear..say if you bolt the chain in the front passenger head where alt was bolted then bolt the other end of the chain to driver side head in the rear.
just unbolt your header, motor mounts trany mounts, remove upper accessories and all cables and vacuum lines that will not be moving with motor, remove radiator and she should come right out....Ive had one yanked in less than 2hrs.

You dont have to take the valve covers off you can leave the lower intake and dizzy in if you want. You dont have to drop the tranny crossmember, you can just unbolt the tranny from the mount. Pull the radiator out, and you can leave the balancer and water pump. I did this in about 6 hours a few weeks ago.

Just order a EFI plate from Summit or somewhere. It bolts to the lower intake, Much easier and safer than chaining it.

Really Since I pulled my motor and Trans together with a chain and I'm getting ready to reinstall my motor with the trans attached Sat.with a chain I'm just curious what makes it easier and safer with a EFI plate? Any help is appreciated.

When you go to put it in, save your self some time and bolt the transmission cross member up and when the tranny gets close to that area, just put a jack under the tranny and jack it to the height you need.
