Pull motor leave tranny.

So I've built my 78 Mustang II completely myself, but it was my first manual car. I installed the clutch and tranny after the motor was in. I need to pull the motor to fix some oil pan problems that I tried to fix 2x already without removing the motor.

I'd like to avoid removing the tranny when I pull the motor since I'd have to pull the tranny from underneath since I don't have enough room in the garage to pull both out the front.

Any tricks to pulling a motor attached to a manual tranny without removing the tranny? Do I need to remove the clutch cable or can I just unbolt the bell housing, put a jack under the tranny, lift the motor and tranny a few inches then pull the motor forward?

I'm thinking the install would be pretty similar, except I'd have the rear tires off the ground and the tranny in gear so I can roll the tires to rotate the input shaft so it lines up with the clutch and pressure plate.
