Ok I pulled off my upper window trim and when I took it off there was alot of black sticky stuff that looked like a greese/silicon...is that what it is? I assume its there to keep water out/help to hold the piece in place. I took it off to paint it because it was fading alot. What should I do with it when I put it back on, do I need more or what. Thanks

Only nasty black sticky stuff that is under the molding normally is Butyl Tape, windsheild adhesive. (this holds the glass in place and seals out the moisture)

yup thats it...its really gross :rlaugh: anyways, do I need to do anything when I put it back on all freshly painted

which window were you working on? if it is the windsheild have a glass guy come and put it in with urethane windseilds are structural components in unibody cars and butyl tape gives you no strength. however it is ok on the rear hatch window, quarter windows, and tail light lens'
