Alittle back story-

On the new engine combo I have been sorting things out and found my valvetrain to be in diss-array. Spent the winter setting it up and doing some cleaning of the engine bay.

I used my adj. PR and got a length of 6.13 (meas. by Tmoss, thanks again for the help :nice: ) meas. in a dial caliper.

I orderd Trick Flow 6.150 PR (as the meas. ones were at 0 pre-load and the 6.150 gave me a .017 preload). I got them the other day and the TF 6.150 pushrods are SHORTER than the 6.13 adj. with the nekkid' eye:mad:    :bang:  . So now I have to call summit back and "hope" they take returns on something like this....

Summit rules...they should help you out.

They took care of me recently- Richmond Gear put the wrong parts in an order package from Summit, and Summit solved the problem by overnighting me the correct parts right away.

Well

after fitting them with both the 1.7 crane RR with a .060 shim along with a .060 lash cap and the stock 1.6's that dont need the lash cap or .060 shim.

They fit the 1.6 rockers and it seems the shim (was in there when meas.) is the amount I am off "roughly". I double checked the adj. PR before measuring, and again after getting the PR. The adj. PR is just coming up a bit longer than the tfs 6.150's (again the same as before when meas. with shims, lash cap, and 1.7rr).

With the 1.6 rockers I get a very solid no play fit to the lifters before the 25ftlb trq speck 1/4-1/2 turn setup.

For whatever reason the PR are too short to use with the 1.7rr. In all honesty, I am just done with this and am going to use the 1.6 rockers. I have fought this damn valvetrain now since Nov. of last year. I did every FRIGGAN thing and double checked and trip. checked it, to be boogerd' over in the end.

I checked the 1.6's for geo. to make sure they were at least sitting correctly on the valve with no shims and I am calling it done.

In the end thanks for reading and I will be selling the 1.7rr/lash caps/and shims.

Out of curiousity, do you have any pics of your dial indicator setup for measuring your preload? Or maybe you could describe how you set it up. I'm wondering if it was the same way I did. My valvetrain was pretty damn noisy, so I wonder if I may have fudged something when I meaured for my PR length.

I used a lifter that was made solid to avoid the whole deal.

From the meas. with no preload (as it was made solid and could not be loaded) the length of the adj. PR came out to 6.13. It ended up that the 6.150 "should have" given me a .017 preload (spec is like .020-.030) so just alittle loose as far as perfect would be.

What I did was this

put the adj. PR in and then put on the shim, lashcap and 1.7 rocker. I snugged down the rocker. I did not trq. it down, just until the bolt was as tight as I could get it with a socked only with no wrench, I fig. that since I could not pre-load the lifter and that 25ftlb's/with in 1/4-1/2 turn was to pre-load it and I could not do that with the solid I would err on side of just a hair too long instead of short. I then adj. the PR until it had no vertical play and had a "snug" drag on it if I rotated the PR.

I even re-checked the TFS pushrods with the same solid lifter and even though they are supposed to be .017 longer than the adj. PR they have a good bit of play vertical with the solid lifter when used with the properly set up 1.7rr. But with the 1.6's (no shims or lashcaps) the PR were snug and had 0 vertical play.

I would rather get my lift from the cam, and a buddy gave me a good fair price on the 1.7's. The only thing I am realy P!$$ed about is the time I spent doing this and going back over this to end up were I am.
