Turns out the valves are fubar in my current heads, and im weary of the lower end with only 18psi of oil pressure at idle.. so i'm going with a new motor. My buddy's dad has a 302 (306) with a cam, professionally built lower end that i am getting at a great price (500miles on it, if that).

I am looking at a 3/8" girdle with ARP studs.. i'll also be running an oil temp gauge, possibly with a cooler. I will go with either stock ported heads+intake or GT40's if i can get a set CHEAP. What other heads could i use to make decent power, that i could nab pretty cheap?

I am on a serious budget with this build.. as i've damn near ran out of money, and im going to school next week.. that means i can not spend much more (if any at all) on this car until next summer. Basically, i'm looking to throw together a decent motor that will take some abuse and make around 260crank horse power, 300+ft lbs.

What do you guys think?
