Quad Shockless?

After getting the 315 BFG DRs on, I was paranoid about how close the tips and quad shocks were to the tire. So....I get turn-downs and removed my quad shocks yesterday. My question is, does anyone else get a lil wheel hop, or was it just me? I still have subframes to get welded on (possibly Fri or sometime next week). Will they help?

Wheel hop can be very damaging. If you have wheel hop you probabaly want to reinforce your torque boxes as well before you tear them up.

Did you have the hop before you removed the quads but after those massive tires (I am jsut jelous)...?

If not I would recommend you try to figure out a way to relocate them. I bet there is a decent place to relocate the back mont to maybe in front of the axle...

The quad shock is there to control wheel hop. If you remove them, you need to install aftermarket lower control arms. That should eliminate your wheel hop. :nice:
i agree with you! i have 315's out back and i removed the quads as well. i also have steeda adjustible arms and steeda lower arms as long as you have control arms then you should be fine without quads, the sub frames wont help out any on wheel hop. but yes wheel hop isnt to good for ya tho!!! get some control arms for the rear before it ends up to be more costly for you! what wheel and tire did you go with? peace

White powdercoated cobra r's 17x10.5 out back with 315/35 bfg dr's. They fit fine with quadshocks, but was too close for me to feel comfortable. I think I will order u/l control arms and an axle brace to stiffen her up a lil.

Thanks for all the replies.

Yep, I have the exact same rims and tires as you, except I have BBK/Gripp upper and lower control arms. I've noticed no wheel hop at all! :nice:

i've heard that they not only control the wheel hop, but also have a bit of an edge for handling. i just installed a set of steeda quads today, i didn't notice too much of a differance, maybe a bit smoother on accel.
