Hi Guys long time reader what can i say great info.

But i cant seem to find the weight of a complete 302 HO.

Also how much dose aluminum heads safe on weight

Im Dropping a 302 into non Ford. So im trying to keep the weight to a minimum.

The stock motor and tranny in there now weigh 572lb

Iv had 8 mustangs this will just be a weekend toy.

Thanks

All i know is that me and a friend took the cast iron heads off the stock 5.0 and those mothers were heavy. It takes 2 hands to hold that thing. The aluminum TFS heads were really easy to hold and took alot less effort. I would say about 40% less.

I just got a brand new ford 5.0 crate engine with aluminum heads the shipping weight was around 425-450 pounds, and I think I read that the aluminum heads save 40 pounds each, i could be mistaking that for both, but I think it is each because I was pretty suprised.

Great thanks Guys. 425-450 sounds good. looks like my V8 swap is going to be close if not lighter then the 4 cylinder and tranny thats in there :)

Did some more searching and i found this

The next weight-saving measure would be a set of aluminum heads. Dan Masters' page that I referenced earlier has his own measured weight for a complete 302 with aluminum heads, manifold, water pump, and all accessories -- and it's only 424 lbs!

and im told the T5 is 75lb without the bellhousing. so ill say 100LB with bellhousing

Not bad 524lb motor and tranny

Thanks again for the help guys
