Question about 8.8 rear end

I recently got a use rear out of a 87 t-bird tcoupe for the 5.0, when i removed the diff cover I noticed some surface rust on some of the ring gear and diff gears. Is this a major issue or can I run it like this a the rust be knocked off or what can I do to repair the issue.

Just get a little oil and a toothbrush and rub it and it should disappear.

First turn of the gears will grind off the surface rust as well assuming it's light surface rust.

it appears to be just surface rust but I will try that sometime soon.
