Question about a Chevy

Just got home with my father-in-laws (left to my wife in his will) 2001 Monte Carlo SS and had a question. The engine is the same 3.8L that is in the Pontiac GTP (supercharged). Can I swipe the supercharger, intake, and I suppose the computer from a GTP and put in on the Monte or should I look for a wrecked Monte Carlo that is factory supercharged?

I don't think the compression would be the same with your version of the 3800, and you probably dont have as good of internal engine parts ie. forged pistons etc, as the supercharged counterpart. Just my .02 and I may be wrong...

Pretty sure people have done exactly what you were asking about.....Maby call GM and ask a tech guy there they would know for sure.

I'm very sorry to hear about your loss.

Honestly, I'd hit a Monte forum and ask - I bet you're not the first one to contemplate this (if there are any decent late model Monte forums, that is).

Thanks HISSIN50. He passed away about 3 months ago and this was our first opportunity to go up there (Wisconsin). She hadn't had any contact in probably 15 years since he divorced her mother (who's a complete POS (and that's nicer than what my wife says about her.)). I've been trying to find a late model Monte forum like stangnet but no luck so far. The only differences I've found is the Monte's CR is 9.4 and the GTP's CR is 8.5.
