Hello, I just bought a '90 LX Convertible 2.3, and I've been searching for a while to answer a question with no luck. Are all body panels (mainly concerned with the front bumper cover) interchangeable between LX and GT models? What about front fenders and such?

Thanks!

If I remember correctly, fenders are interchangable, but the front and rear bumpers arent.

Interchangable yes, but the mouldings are specific, lx will not match up with GT, and I believe the mouldings mount using different methods also.

You can mount GT parts on the Lx, or other way around, it's been done. Most typical, it's the LX turns into a GT, saleen or cobra.

Everything works. Just apperance preferences. The opening in the molding on the GT throughout all the parts is larger than the LX

So correct me if I'm wrong,

all panels on the front end are GT or LX specific, having different front bumper covers/fenders/mouldings/etc...

So my next question is, are the bumper covers interchangeable without changing the bumper behind it? What I would like to do is to replace my slightly damaged LX fenders/mouldings/bumper cover with GT ones if I were to replace them, since I like the look better. Would I have to change the bumper itself to a GT bumper? I haven't taken the cover off to investigate to this point.

Thanks for your help!

No you don't have to actually change the bumper, although if you have damage to the LX bumper cover the bumper itself might be damaged. The GT bumper cover will fit just fine over the LX bumper though.
