Question about changing pads with ABS

Just have a quick question...I need new pads on my daily driver, a 94 explorer. It has ABS. I've changed pads before, but I was just wondering if I have to do anything different because of the ABS.

BTW...I put the mustang away for the winter. It was a sad sad day.

The procedure is the same as on any non-ABS equipped vehicle.

I thought that there was some issue wtth trying to push fluid back up past an ABS check valve or something that could lead to issues.

I plan on breaking the bleed loose while retracting the piston (so no fluid goes north). Then top the system off once all done. I might be going overboard though (I would need to read up first).

Though I am not disagreeing with anyone, it was wise of you to ask first. A quick answer might come from the SN95 sub-forums since they almost all have ABS (not as common on foxes, so less people have dealt with it).

Nope, nothing is different. I've done brakes on plenty of ABS equipped cars. Just push the pistons in.

ABS only becomes an issue if you let the system run dry. Then you are basically screwed.

I believe if you have a way of actvating the ABS motor while bleeding the brakes, then you're not screwed. I seem to recall that this is all the dealers and pros do to get the air out....I think.

I dont know if its as simple as bridging a connection or if you need special tools to do it. The easy fix is to not let the system get air in it...
